KID CLASSES 2025-26
Hello, I'm Mr Wade, and I teach our weekly Draw Club classes. I'm a professional cartoonist creating cartoons for businesses. I've also been teaching kids and adults how to draw cartoons in schools, camps and workshops since 1990. My wife, Eva Marie, and I started in-person Draw Club in 2013 here on the shores of Lake Michigan. We are 100% online now and it is our goal to have lots of students and teachers joining/leading Draw Club classes worldwide.

What ages can join Draw Club?
We have classes for ages 4 and up. Even for adults. The ages for each Draw Club class are displayed on the class summary and the individual web pages.
Who can join Draw Club?
Anyone can join. From anywhere. You just need a reliable internet connection. We have homeschool students, public school students, virtual students, schools, microschools & organizations.
Are all Draw Club classes online?
Yes. We are currently only online. Drawing works well online, and almost feels like you're there in person.
Will Draw Club ever be in-person?
Draw Club started in-person. We moved online to serve more people. Someday we hope to do a bus tour and offer in-person Draw Club events so we can meet all of you face to face.
How long is a Draw Club lesson?
All Draw Club lessons run 55 minutes for ages 8 and up. Even our adult classes. Our younger Scribble Sketchers and Starting Sketchers classes run 25 minutes.
Do parents need to be present?
Parents are always welcome (and even encouraged to join in the drawing too). That said, classes for ages 8 and up do not need a parent in attendance. For our Scribble Sketchers (Ages 4-6) and Starting Sketchers (Ages 6-8) we do require a parent to be present during the session. If some of the older students in that range demonstrate they can manage the class on their own, then the parent will not be required to stay.
How often does Draw Club happen?
Each Draw Club class offering has one lesson per week. Many of our classes have 2+ time options available. Hopefully one of those times fits your schedule.
What if I can't make the live session?
Sometimes our time offerings just don't work for you. And sometimes other activities (sports, clubs, events, vacations) make it impossible to attend our live sessions for a while. When that happens, there is always the option of watching the recorded lesson on YouTube and doing the drawing exercise at your convenience. We post the video just after classes are finished for the week.
Can I skip all the live classes and just do the videos?
Certainly. We love having you in class, but over the years we've had a number of students who only do the lesson using our YouTube videos. The videos are left up for a couple of weeks after the live class, and then we take them down, so if you choose to do class this way, don't wait too long to finish each lesson.
Can I join twice in a week?
If you want to do the lesson again, by all means join us during more than one session. Or if you can't make class at your normal time one week, you're welcome at one of the other time slots if it works better for you that week.
What tools do I need to bring to class?
You will need to print a JPG template to help your student follow along with the lesson. Other tools for this class are simple: a pencil, an eraser, colored pencils or crayons or markers to color with (preferably two or three of each color, like a light, medium, and dark green, etc), two or three black felt tip ink pens of different sizes (fine, medium, large), a ruler, and once or twice we'll need a mirror (a selfie will do if you have a phone/tablet). A suggested supplies list is up above.
Is Draw Club accredited?
No. Academic accreditation is expensive and nearly impossible across all 50 states. But we've been doing classes with kids for 35 years...you'll be learning a ton.
How many kids are in a single class?
Honestly, that varies. Sometimes it's very small. Other times it's very large. We don't have a limit on the number of kids in class, but we do have people to respond to everyone in chat, so even if you're drawing with hundreds of other amazing illustrators, you'll be heard. If class sizes are too big for everyone to share their work, you can always show us during Office Hours, post your work on our Facebook page, or send us an email with a picture of your work, and we'll give you some honest and encouraging feedback.
How do you evaluate my child's work?
We don't' give grades. But we do critique any work that is shared with us (see entry just above).
When are office hours?
Currently, enrollment this year is small enough that we don't need office hours. If numbers bump up, we'll add office hours Friday morning.
Do I have to share my work?
No. We never force sharing. But we'd love to see your work and encourage you along on your drawing journey.
I have two or more students in a single class, do I pay for each one?
No. We like to give families a break. One price covers your whole household for any single class. If you are getting together as a group with other students that aren't in your family, then please use our Group option at checkout (you can have any number of students attend together in the same place for one really low price). If you have four or more students who want to draw together, the Group option is a super bargain. We love it when you draw together.
Will this give my child an art porfolio?
Though our classes won't make your child a virtuoso artist in one year, we strongly suggest keeping a folder of your child's lesson work from each week. The goal of our classes is to teach techniques and styles, so every lesson may not turn out a masterpiece...but some will be awesome. If you keep them all safely in a folder, you'll be able to see your progression, and have a record to show a teacher/evaluator if needed.
Does Draw Club have PBL projects?
Project Based Learning projects are not built into class, but if you need to do a PBL for evaluation, we have a list of various projects with instructions below, and we're happy to help evaluate your work as you develop one.
Sign up through a Partnership or ESA?
If you're part of a homeschool partnership/co-op or have ESA funds, all you have to do is send and email letting us know your name, your student(s) name(s) and age(s), which organization is paying for your class, and which Draw Club class you'd like to join.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please send from an email address you'll check regularly...this is where we'll send you Zoom links and templates for class throughout the year.
Does Draw Club have scholarships?
We do not currently offer in-house scholarships. As we grow we will be developing a scholarship program. In the meantime we are trying to get accredited by as many other supporting programs that will help you pay for Draw Club as we possibly can.
What if the internet goes down?
It happens. Rarel, But it does. Draw Club has an automatic generator back-up, so if power goes down, we should be back up shortly. If the internet substation goes down, we can't fix that...but we'll still post the lesson for the week on YouTube. In the last four years, we've only had one day permanently interrupted by internet outage.
Are all Draw Club classes live?
No. Each month, three sessions are live, followed by a fourth, recorded session called the Studio Project.
What's a Studio Project?
A Studio Project is an exercise that brings the previous three weeks of techniques together into one lesson for students to develop on their own. This is a chance to branch out of the step-by-step tutorials and into your own creativity and imagination. Take as much time as you want or need. And, if you're lacking inspiration, the Studio Project always has a step-by-step option as well, so we never leave you without support.
Can I share Draw Club with others?
Absolutely! We want everyone who wants to draw here. If you know a person, group, school, microschool or program that would love a live drawing class to take part in, we'd love to have you share Draw Club with them. You can send them our website address-
https://www.googenius.com/drawing/draw-club-main.html
or download this Draw Club Info Sheet and send it on.
Is there a Draw Club for adults?
As a matter of fact there is. We have two adult Draw Clubs: Studio Sketchers for ages 18-50, and Social Sketchers for our more seasoned adults ages 50+. See the bottom of this page for links.
Can we run a group Draw Club?
If you would like to run your own in-person Draw Club group using our lessons, you certainly can. You would need to purchase our Group option at check-out and then you are free to host as large group as you would like, either during our live time slots or by replaying the video at a convenient time for your group to meet.
Welcome to Draw Club...we'll stop the world and draw with you!

We'll keep you posted on how
